Sunlight. Morning. Pain. She turned her head away from them. The light and glamour only serve to make other deny the truth and to make them oblivious that this place was a prison and they are just slaves within them. But she could see clearly and well understood her position with was not of queen but of prisoner chained to this golden cage. She wish to be free not attached to a chain and carried around unwillingly. How can the people live in a world of fantasy when it is so clear that their lives was build only so that they must serve. They are not of equal with their king they understood but they respect him although he had sentenced many of their loves to death. This man could not be call a fair and just king. His eye spark of determination just for one thing with is dominance over this very world. It had always been like this and was always going to remain like this. Her best friend who had tried to change him had received the same sentences as all other who are foolish enough to defy him. Death. Always as it been and always as it will remain. Till the death of him and then to the reign of another. People who live their life within the walls of the castle remember the story well. Those outside heard of the a witch girl who had tried to bewitch their king so that he will change the way common to the people and had been killed. But then they hadn't heard the entire story. Under sentence of death, the king had order the spreading of the story to stop but she can still recall the event so clearly that it scares her. Trapped inside this cage for longer than she had imagine, receiving the title as queen at the age of 20, she cannot forget of the friend willing to face death all for the power of her beliefs. Golden Era Chapter 1 By: Nightfall Only back then did the morning light shine so brightly with such warmth that can sear through the toughest of hearts or so they thought. Yellow, orange, blue, and pink (ewe, I hate pink) spread across the horizon giving the scenery a golden look. A group of girls was about walking and smiling among themselves, as they walked excitedly towards the large door. Two soldiers stood out front, guarding the door as though it was their lives purpose to do so and back then it was. To guard but one who did not deserve the respect of the people or deserve the right of to make command against the people who he is supposed to guide not use. A vengeful prince whose only interest is of him and never of another until just after the grand parade in honor of who else but his majesty. But before then who was call the savage but the people, who serve and obey the every wish those of higher stages then themselves. If they were the savages then who would be known as civilized. It is the way that they were looked upon. The ways of the people were not understand but that was the way everything was and there was none brave enough to change this, a way so familiar and recognized by all. Back then she was none other but one of the savage, not fit to be the queen that she will become. Her parents had come into some riches back then allowing her for the greatest career that one of her standards can meet. She worked in the palace as a maid and soon won the position as one as personal maid to the king and queen. Although it does not sound like a high position it was and she was happy at her way of life. Well life back then was not perfect but she was consent with it. It was then that a new maid appeared. She had greater dreams than to wait on foot for a self-centered and obnoxious prince, as she called him, and had high hopes for something that can never be true. She acted of equal to those of higher standards than herself and refused to look up to the lords causing commotion among the villagers. She befriended herself with many and given people hope that they had never had before but until the prince none of the lords had taken her to any interest. Her name was Serenity but she was forbidden in use of that name for they though that it was a sin against the goddess of the moon so therefore taken the name Serena. It was name known by all at the time but is never to be mention again under order of the king. This girl had more hopes and beliefs than one had ever seen. With her pure light she tried to show the world that it could achieve more than just this simple peasant life and forever she was remember in fondness to the people she serve. Though it was not known by all she accomplish more in her lifetime than anybody can ever dream and although she lived a short life she was never felt regret for standing up for everything that she believed. * * * * * “Don’t you ever wish for something more than just this life of servitude? To be trapped in this prison of glory and glamour. Why must it be the people that work and the royal to bask in the riches of the land that they did not work for?” Serena asked, as she scrubs at the kitchen floor. Sighing, she watched her friend work at the tough strains. “There is a balance in this land. Some are made to work and others are not. Although I’m not saying that it’s correct it is way most common to the people for it has been like that for longer than they can imagine and if you have half a mind you would know that nothing is going to change that.” “Well your right that it isn’t right for that to be happening by I think that there should be somebody who would try to change it. You don’t need half a mind to know that the prince is a complete foolhardy monarch.” She washed her hand and went over to sit by her friend. “Really Molly do you believe that there is a chance of ever achieving more than this if we are ruled by such royals?” “But what for? You have an idea for a perfect world ruled by a kind and loving ruler but that isn’t the way things are. Still we are consent with the things that we have though it might seem like much. There are many things that you should be grateful to have because of the generosity of our king.” She ended her sentence with a smile knowing that she gotten her with that last statement but was surprised to she another smile form on Serena’s face. “If what you say is true than you say that you judge people by what they can offer you not upon the compassion the person have.” “How so?” “You say that there are many things that the royals give you but them doesn’t that also mean that they are making it so that they own these little things. They pretend to own the world and then say they give you permission to live on it. How can you call the ones how steal away the very air you breath and the very land you live on and them make you think that they are the ones that gave you these gift in the first place?” She squared her eyes daring her to object with this. Molly opened her mouth to reply but then closed it again for there was a considerable amount of sense in what she said. “How can you do these things? To have such a strong belief in those things that I can not even began to understand and to be so strong inside and out?” she said, smiling at her. Grinning she replied, “How can you not understand if you live in such that of a world? There are so much that I fail to empathize with about the ways of our kingdom and the way that it is run.” “Well that the way things are. Who are we to say such a thing? Anyways if you’re done, we’ll have to return to the quarter and change so we won’t be late for the grand parade.” They began to walk back to the their little sector at the edge of the building and change into a worn deep blue dress with a white apron on it. The sleeves were trimmed and the bottom of the dress billow out slightly, stopping at their knees. They took turned and brush each other hairs and making it special. Molly hair was put up in a blue clip in her hair and a small braid on the side of her head. Serena’s hair was put in two flat buns on top of her head and then it was coil up making her hair shorter than that it really is. The two then eagerly came out and enter through the palace door. Inside a bustling crowd was gathered around before the great door where the majesties would appear before them shortly. Each person they came upon was eager to get a glimpse at the prince, mainly the ladies. Serena broke her away from Molly and began to examine the large ballroom which she knew she would have to clean- up after everyone departs but for now she was just here to serve the people. Sighing, she walked over and grabbed a tray of cucumber sandwiches and began walking around letting people take as they wish. How can Molly say that this is the highest that they can achieve surely there is more to life than just to be one’s servant? A loud boom echoed the room as the door began to open. She warily looked up not really caring that they royals were coming but was just acting on impulse. She gasped, almost dropping the tray on the ground. Before her stood one of the most handsome young man she had ever seen. Mask in glamour and intelligence but with a sort of incompetent air around him. She smiled. No matter how handsome the prince was he will have to he was not that fair-minded and she will have to be the one to change the way “most common to the people.” Dawn with ideas she spent the rest of her evening thinking of a way to justify the unethical way of the pompous prince. `~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~` Sorry for all you that are waiting for Wisdom's Fool to come out but I can't think of anything to write for it. If you have any ideas of suggestion then please e-mail me at Nightfall7@mail.com. Oh and this story was supposed to be a short story but then I didn't like the idea of writing a fifty page short story.
