PG13 History Will Not Repeat Itself Part Three: Earth by: Shell Presto Note: My normal stuff is below the story. *GLOSSARY* Here's what you may need to know: daijobu/alright or okay, dooshite/why, gomen (ne or nasai)/sorry, hai/yes, iie/no, itai/pain, nan(da)or nani/what, yamena/stop (it), He collapsed against a tree, every ounce of his energy spent. The present was not a good experience for Endymion, and it was unbearable without his princess. Well, Usagi was there, but she always seemed uncomfortable around him. Either way, he was alone now; he got separated from the girls over a half hour ago. He doubted that they would even notice. He smiled a bit as he stretched his arms and laid on the grass. The grass was wet, just beginning to form a light dew over each tiny blade, tickling the back of his neck. He reveled in the cool spring air, it seemed almost exhilerating compared to that of the street. He closed his eyes, with every intention of giving in to his exhaustion. He let his mind wander, connecting with the earth he used to know so well. At first, it was peaceful, the green around him, cool night air. He could feel everything around him in motion, natural growth. He probed deeper, letting his mind escape his body, further beneath him, into the air. His body cringed, and he screamed. He sensed every disorder within the earth, pipes running through the ground, carrying chemicals that rotted the pipes, releasing it into the ground. Most growth was strangled by concrete, and he could sense the atmosphere burning from toxins. Nothing here seemed natural anymore, not even the rocks. With a need to escape, he staggered over to a fountain, submerging his head into the water. He felt so hot... Endymion quickly pulled his head from the water, an excess of chlorine burning his eyes. "Damn it!" he cursed to no one in particular. "When I find out who did this I am going to...." The tree seemed to call to him, the Earth knew its true master, knew he wanted to help. Endymion could do no less than comply. The tree's roots were being dug into by the walkway. The tree itself had a large orange X painted on its bark. Endymion did his best to lift the large chunk of sidewalk resticting it, to no avail. He simply wasn't strong enough. That didn't stop him, though. He began to dig madly at the block, scratching at it like some animal. When his fingers began to bleed he realized it was more than compressed dirt. He rose to go recover his sword when... "Endymion!" "Sereni... I mean, oosahgee. When did you...?" "You're bleeding!" she exclaimed as she took his hands. "Nan..." He was more than glad that they arrived. "You have to help me..." "Nani?" Ami questioned. "I need to move that square." He pointed to his objective. "It's killing the tree." "Don't worry about it," Usagi told him with pride. (She actually knew something he didn't!) "They're going to cut it down soon anyway." "WHAT!?! Cut it down?! Why?!" "Because... it's tearing up the sidewalk." "That sidewalk is killing the tree!" (Is the glass half full or half empty? ^_^Shell) "Endymion," Ami began. "It's alright, you just don't understand..." "NO!" he yelled. "It's NOT alright and I DON'T understand. It's a living thing, the sidewalk isn't. You should get rid of the sidewalk!" Both Senshi and Princess became silent. Morally, Endymion was right, yet in all cases, tearing up the sidewalk was vandalism, and the two wouldn't take the chance. "It's against the law to tear up the sidewalk. I'm sorry, but you can't do it," Ami told him. "What do you mean I... can't.... oh..." "But... we can't just leave it..." he said as a shy request. "We have to," Ami explained. "I won't!" Usagi took him by the arm, "We can't stay out here. It's just the way things are. Ima, let's go home, I'm starving!" The latter was stated with an overdose of enthusiasm. "How can you think of eating when something's going to die!" "It's just a tree..." "You're just a person." "People and trees are two very different things." "I don't think so." "Well, what you think and I know... HEY! Let go of..." Endymion had grabbed her by the arm and rushed her to the tree, abruptly placing her hand on the bark, beneath his. He closed his eyes, and made an unnerving face. Usagi screamed as sensations rushed to her mind. It wasn't tangible, something like pain, though she couldn't describe it. Her insides felt like they were twisting inside out, her mind wondering about how Endymion could do this to her. "MAMO-CHAN!!!!!!!" He let go, and she began to cry. "Oosahgee.. I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to hurt like that. I couldn't concentrate, it was hurting me, too..." He tried to hold her, comfort her with strong arms. She outright slapped him across the face as he approached her. "STAY AWAY FROM ME!!" she cried as she ran into Ami's arms. "Keep him away...." Ami did her best to calm her friend. The look she gave Endymion a rare mix of anger and disappointment. "How could you hurt her like that?!" "I... I didn't mean to. You two are just so stubborn, I wanted her to understand. I didn't intend to hurt you, Oosahgee," he reassured her. "It was an accident. It won't happen again." "P... promise?" "I swear on my kingd.... I give you my word." His eyes full of gentleness, Usagi knew she could trust him. Mamoru had every intention of making it up to her, which he did in one sentence. Although he didn't want to leave unfinished business, for her comfort, he would. "Let's go home." End Part Three Yeah, it's short again, gomen. Demo, I didn't want to go any further and leave it hanging until next week. Oh, I'm gonna have a pic up for this on my web page (it's most likely up by now). It's probably the best one I've done yet! So, check it out at http://www.Geocities.com/Tokyo/Bridge/3542 . On the other hand, if you don't want to do that, email me. Unlike my last story, there is only one pic for History, and I will have no problem emailing it to anyone who writes. Well, the next part is "Uncertainty," Check it out. Oh, and is anyone reading this story? No one's writing and it's gonna go on hiatus for a while if no one does. (I'm obviously doing something wrong, tell me what it is. I like constructive criticism, or unconstructive for that matter.) mangetsu@email.com -Shell Presto Legal Stuff!!!: I don't own any Sailormoon characters.
