PG13 History Will Not Repeat Itself Part Seven: Heat by:Shell Presto Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon or any affiliated characters, Naoko Takeuchi does. I'm just borrowing them to keep the tale of an Earth prince and his Moon princess alive. "Well, if you've done it before, couldn't you do it again? Get Mamoru back, I mean," he questioned. She shook her head slowly. "No... I don't even know how I did it in the first place. If I try it again..." She hesitated, trying to hold back her tears, failing. "I could lose both of you... Besides... I... I know it's selfish, but I don't want you to go... You are my love, Endymion." Her words fell to rather deaf ears. By the time she looked at him again, he was kneeling in the bed beside her, holding her tightly and removing her tears with soft butterfly kisses. It wasn't that he was ignoring her, he heard her, got the general idea of her words, it was just that he couldn't stand seeing her tears. Not that he didn't like it when she cried, for tears of joy are a wonderful thing, and even when she was sad, she was very, very beautiful. It didn't matter though, he swore to himself long ago that he'd keep her smiling, and that took all priorities. "Thank you," she whispered with a slight giggle. "You're the best, Endymion." Her arms pulled him closer into a tight embrace. He laughed quietly, "As if there was any doubt?" He slipped his hands beneath the princess, laying her out on his bed. Encasing her in his arms, with their legs entangled, he began to kiss her passionately. Every time he kissed her it seemed like a longer time had passed since they'd last been together. Time really had no meaning, though, as they'd gotten over that road block. He began to fumble with the buttons on the back of her dress as they kissed. By his recollection, they hadn't had any personal time since long before the war. He desperately needed to be with her again. That is why he became so shocked when his love stilled his hands, and lips. "We can't," she told him sorrowfully. "W... why?" he asked, voice brimming with need and confusion. She'd never refused him before. "Endymion, Usagi has hardly even kissed a man before. I can't make that decision for her. After all, this is her body as well. It isn't right to..." "But..." Endymion protested softly, "I need you, Sere. I thought you were going to stay with me." "I.... I can't," she choked. Endymion couldn't think of words to voice his despair. He did need her. He had no clue what he was supposed to do in this unfamiliar world. As a matter of fact, loving and protecting Serenity was the only thing he did know how to do. It was keeping him sane. "I thought you were the more dominant one." "I can't take her life away from her. I'm sorry," she told him, hugging him fiercely. He held her just as tight. "It's not fair. You should stay. I'm nothing without you and Usako is miserable without Mamoru. Gods, I don't even think Usako likes me................................... does she?" he ended his comments with a raised eyebrow. Silence followed as Serenity refused to comply once again, "That's not my place to say." This upset him all the more, and he settled into her as he pleaded, "Stay." Tears welled up in the princess' eyes. How she wanted to stay with him forever, yet it was not meant to be. She could hear the longing in her lover's voice. Just long enough so he can get his bearings, that's all the time she would need, a month. Too long, it wasn't fair to take away Usagi's life. Still.... "I should go...." "I... I need you............ Please, Sere...." She could't leave him, not the way he was, sick and depressed, lost and lonely. "I'll stay until you fall asleep." "Then I'll stay awake forever." A touching phrase, one that conveyed romantic intentions, though Endymion was dead serious, and Serenity knew it. "You can't, you'll make yourself sick," she warned. Pulling him closer, she coddled his head to her chest. "Please, Endymion, get some rest. I want you to recover." He really didn't have time to reply. Finally feeling safe and warm and loved, his eyes drifted shut without a second thought. He just prayed his love would be there when he woke. Not even fifteen minutes had passed before Serenity woke him, shaking him roughly. "Endymion! Endymion!!" Immediately following her voice came a sharp pain in his stomach, and the realization that he felt extremely hot. His shirt was sopping wet, he was sweating, a lot. He had a hard time thinking, and even his lover's voice sounded strange to him. "Sere...?" The shaking abruptly stopped. She continued, breathless and almost hysterical, "Endymion, you're burning! This isn't normal! You're not just sick...." "I'm hot..." was all he could manage to say. It was the only half rational thought going through his head. It was, in fact, an understatement, as his skin felt much like an oven range would. Serenity froze a moment, tears running down her face. Endymion was going to die, though only if she couldn't cool him off. She took off for the bathroom in a flash, then returned seconds later to help her prince into the room. He stumbled awkwardly, not knowing why he had to move. Serenity acted as a crutch, supporting most of his weight. Needless to say, he felt better after she stripped him and placed him in an ice cold bath. Still dazed, he faced the ceiling with his eyes closed. Serenity was toweling his face with a cold cloth and running more cold water when that in the tub started to warm. It took quite a while, but he started to cool. Groggily, he held Serenity's hand, along with the compress, to his forehead. He smiled weakly, eyes not yet opened. "Thank you," he rasped. It wasn't much longer before she helped him out of the bath and dried him. He leaned against the wall and did nothing more than watch her. After all, he was completely exhausted. She helped him back to bed, and tucked him in carefully, covering him only with a light sheet. He watched her lips curve upward in a soft smile as she began to hum a pleasant little tune. Slowly, he relaxed once again and drifted off to sleep. Serenity watched him closely. She sighed heavily. Fate played some cruel jokes, though, through it all, their love would survive, somehow. Her thoughts were interrupted as her lover moaned in his sleep. His brow tensed and he turned harshly. Sadness washed over her, she'd never seen him so sick. Gently, she brush a few of his thin, dark bangs away from his face, then lightly fingered the crystal she had just gotten attached to a necklace. (What did you think Usagi was doing in her spare time?) She covered him as, in place of sweating, he began to shiver. His skin became ice cold, though Serenity was sure to warm him up. She laid down next to him, under many a blanket, and allowed her love to settle into her. The last thing she noted before closing her eyes, was how childlike her love now seemed, in look and demeanor. To be continued. Sorry for the lateness, folks, but school is really bogging me down. I have so much work I don't know what fun is anymore!! (Except on weekends...) On that note you can guess that these chapters will be late, BUT THIS STORY WILL CONTINUE UNTIL ITS END. I promise you that. In the meantime, check out my website http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bridge/3542/index.htm for previews to the next part of this fic when I get around to writing it (not to mention an awesome looking pic from the story). Oh, and I have an edited version of my fanfic "Forbidden Love" for those of you who have yet to read it on my page. As usual, I love fanmail (good and bad), so send it to mangetsu@email.com . Thank you all! -Shell Presto ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
