A Morning Coinicidence part 2 By: Twilight Editor: SailorTwin "Mamoru!!!!!!!!!!!" Usagi yelled frantically, then ran out from the arcade. Andrew and Mina looked up surprised by her sudden out burst and looked out the window to see Mamoru sprawled out across the sidewalk bleeding and holding onto consciousness.. "Mamoru! Oh my god!" Andrew yelled and took off outside with Mina right behind him. They saw a very distraught Usagi leaning protectively over Mamoru. When they reached her they heard her mumbling words of encouragement. She never once noticed a crowd beginning to gather. Her thoughts were of only one person.....Mamoru, as she felt her heart begin to break.. "It's okay Mamoru, you're going to be okay! Just hang on.... help is on its way." Mamoru was lying on his back still conscious, but in pain. He smiled at Usagi trying to say he was going to be all right. He then shut his eyes tightly trying to keep back from screaming as a surge of pain ripped through his body causing him to shake involuntarily. When the pain finally subsided he realized a hand was stoking his forehead in a soothing manner. He again opened his eyes to look at Usagi and noticed she was crying. " I'm going to be okay Usagi, it's nothing serious. We'll get together when I'm better I promise, okay? Besides if I wanted to get out of going out with you, I wouldn't have chosen this exit!" Mamoru said trying to make a joke. Usagi laughed slightly as more tears poured down her face. The sound of an ambulance could be heard in the distance growing closer by the second, but not fast enough for Usagi. "You better keep your promise Mamoru Chiba or I won't forgive you!" She said in a light voice and added a small fragile smile to lighten the mood. Mamoru managed to return her smile as the ambulance made its way around the corner and the paramedics rushed to his side. Carefully but quickly they put him on the stretcher and into the ambulance. Usagi rode with Mamoru while Andrew and Mina followed behind in his car. Usagi held onto to Mamoru's hand trying to give him comfort by telling him she was there. She had never been so worried in her life and she didn't understand these strong feelings she had towards him. She wanted to protect him from all danger and harm unlike anyone else she had ever known. The depth of her emotions frightened her to the core but excited her at the same time. Usagi shook herself from her thoughts and gazed at a sleeping Mamoru. He had an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth and his head was tied down to the stretcher to keep from moving. The paramedics hooked him up to a machine to read his heart rate and make sure it was beating normally while checking over his body for what was broken. He looked so calm and peaceful when he slept and Usagi could feel herself falling in love with him. Just as quickly as the ambulance started, it stopped in front of the emergency room and nurses rushed out to help. Everything was happening so fast around Usagi, she couldn't think. Then a nurse came up to her and put a comforting arm around the unnerved lithe blonde. "They're taking him to the emergency room why don't you have a seat in the waiting room until futher notice." Not knowing what else to do Usagi weakly nodded her head as the nurse guided her around the hospital. As soon as she was in the waiting room Andrew burst in looked around and hugged Usagi. Usagi finally let her tears fall without trying to hold them back. Andrew did his best to calm her while he got control of his own emotions. "Excuse me, I need someone to fill out some forms on Mr. Chiba. Could one of you do it?" An elderly women with gray hair asked. She was wearing a nurses uniform and holding a clipboard with a lot of forms. Andrew seeing he was the most calm and knew Mamoru the best slowly released Usagi and excepted the clip board. Mina then took Usagi over to a chair and sat her down. "I'm going to get you some water okay Usagi? Stay here with Andrew." She leaned down to brush some bangs from Usagi's face and looked directly in her eyes. Seeing that Usagi understood her she turned to leave down the long hallway. Andrew quietly filled out the paper work as Usagi pulled her legs close to her body while hugging her legs. She had her head resting on her knees and her tears started to subside. When she finally got control of herself she looked at Andrew with red puffy eyes. He finished the paperwork and got up to give it the the nurse. When he returned, he gave Usagi another comforting hug, soon afterward Mina came back with a cup of water. "Here Usa-chan, drink this." Mina handed her the water which she took with shaking hands and slowly drank it. When she was finished, she set it aside and tried to calm her racing heart. "He's going to be okay Usagi, Mamoru is a strong person." Andrew uttered trying to keep her hopes up. He was slightly surprised at her behavior towards Mamoru. "I didn't know you and Mamoru were that close Usagi... I didn't even think you knew him." "Actually Andrew, I just met him today. I don't know why I'm acting like this when I barely know him.......he's just so sweet and kind....I don't know. I know it sounds silly, but I actually think I've already fallen in love with him." She then looked up to Andrew hoping he understood how she felt. "I understand what your feeling completely Usagi. I should know, I think I've fallen in love with your friend Mina here." He then turned to look at a wide eyed, open mouthed Mina. Andrew simply winked at her and she blushed noticeably and looked away, a smile forming on her lips. After some time she returned Andrew's gaze. For a moment, Usagi forgot all about her worries and smiled at the picture they made. She was happy for her friend. Usagi had never been in love and hoped to one day find it. She always dreamed and fantasized about it, but the man was never right. She had never found anyone who could capture her interest. Now the one person who made her heart flutter was lying in the emergency room unconscious. Tears sprung to her eyes at the thought. "Excuse me, but Mr. Chiba is in intensive care. You can visit him if you like, but you must be as quiet as possible." The same nurse smiled to them and led them to his room. She then patted Usagi on the shoulder and turned to leave. As she stepped into the door way she was amazed to see him hooked up to so many machines. A monitor was beeping at the rate of his heart. An I.V. was attached at his wrist and a small tube for breathing at his nose. He looked so helpless lying there, like a scared sleeping child. Usagi stood there a moment longer before she finally stepped in. Finding the courage to walk to his bedside, she approached his sleeping figure and gently took his hand. Andrew stood on the other side of Mamoru and took a seat with Mina next to him. Usagi couldn't look at Mamoru so instead gazed at their joined hands. She was thinking how well her hand fit in his and how comforting it was. Mamoru's hands were slightly cold and Usagi tried her best to warm them. Andrew turned to Mina and motioned for them to leave. Silently she nodded in agreement and they left the room hand in hand. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "I've never seen Usagi so shaken up. She must really love the guy." "Yea, I think she does, but I think he'll be okay. He'll pull through, he's got to....... I wasn't kidding about earlier Mina. I meant it." Surprised Mina looked into his emarald green eyes. She saw compassion and honesty written vividly on his features and love in his eyes. "I think I've fallen in love with you too Andrew." She then flashed him a shy smile but her gaze never wavered. "How about I take you out to the small park out back? Mamoru works here and he showed me around the whole hospital." "I'd like that. Is Mamoru a doctor?" Andrew nodded his head then guided her to the park. There were edged bushes, colorful flowers, huge oak trees and a small pond with a bridge that went over it. Mina memorized her surroundings and savored this moment. Hand in hand they walked around the gardens and talked about one another. They soon stopped in the center of the bridge and stood there. Andrew learned a lot about Mina. She owned her own company in the same way that he had the arcade and she modeled from time to time with Usagi. He found out where she lived and what she liked to do. "What about you Andrew? What do you do?" Andrew stood there thoughtful for a moment while gazing at their reflection in the water. "Well I own the arcade and ice cream parlor. I don't really have a lot of stuff that I like to do...I guess I like to read, and mainly make people smile. I was looking for someone, but I think my search is over." He stopped looking at their reflection and turned to Mina. Mina was so happy! In all her life she waited to find the right man and here he was standing before her. Unable to resist the opportunity she sealed the gap between their lips and kissed him. Andrew was shocked at first but kissed her back meaningfully. Slowly he brought his arms up and around her waist to bring her closer to him as she wrapped her arms around his neck and entwined her fingers through his hair. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Usagi gazed lovingly at Mamoru's battered face. He had a large bruise along his left cheek and a small cut in his right brow. Even with all the cuts and bruises he was still the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Mamoru stirred slightly and Usagi gently squeezed his hand being careful not to cause him anymore pain. Weakly he opened his eyes and turned his head to see the same beautiful, blue eyed blonde sitting beside him holding his hand. "Usagi? Is that you?" His voice was soft and sounded slightly strained. "Yea, it's me Mamoru.... Remember to keep your promise okay?" Tears again formed in her eyes as they slowly made a new path down her face. Mamoru smiled slightly before closing his eyes. Usagi thought he had fallen asleep again and did her best to hold back choked sobs. "I love you Mamoru. I can't explain how I feel and I've never felt like this before. Please don't leave now." Usagi's voice was the last thing he heard as sleep took over his tired, beaten body. Her words echoing in his mind as he pictured her blue eyes one last time. Usagi brought her head down to their joined hands and kissed his hand as he had done to her. She then laid her head down on the bed and silently cried into the sheets as they caught each of her diamond like tears. "Usagi, visiting hours are almost over. We'll wait outside for you okay?" Andrew quietly said as he looked around the room. Usagi was the only bright thing in the dim and dreary room. The only sounds that came from the room were Serena's muffled cries and the medical equipment. Usagi raised her head to turn and look at Andrew and Mina. Suddenly a lady wearing a doctors jacket with ocean blue water colored eyes walked in. She was wearing small wired glasses that helped enhance her eye color. In her left hand she held a manilla folder and a clipboard. "I'm sorry ma'am but visiting ho--" "Ami-chan? Is that you?" Surprised that this lady knew her name she stopped and took a good look at the blonde sitting before Mamoru. "Usagi? What are you doing here? You know Mamoru?" not really giving her a chance to answer, she continued, "Well then, I guess I will give you his belongings he had on him until he recovers. I hate to do this to you Usagi but you'll have to leave. I'll make arrangements for you to stay overnight first thing in the morning. You look like you need some rest anyway. Just sign in at the front desk and the nurse will give you a badge so you can come and go as you please. He's going to be fine Usa-chan" Usagi released Mamoru's hand and went to hug Ami who returned it sympathetically. Ami was another close friend of hers since grade school and they stayed in touch as often as they could. Usagi knew Ami wanted to someday become a doctor and knew she would. Knowing that she was Mamoru's doctor helped ease her worries a little. "Come on Usa-chan, lets get you home okay. Don't worry about coming to work for awhile. I'll take care of everything." Mina put an arm around Usagi's shoulders and guided her out of the hospital and to the car where Andrew took her home. Once inside Usagi couldn't sit still and so started to clean everything. Her apartment was already clean but she didn't care. Usagi cleaned from top to bottom not missing one spot. Anything to keep her mind off Mamoru. She cleaned to the early hours of dawn until she finally fell on the bed from exhaustion. Through out the whole time her cat Luna watched with worried eyes. Luna was a small black cat that had a strange crescent moon on its forehead and huge red eyes. After Usagi collapsed, Luna nuzzled her neck and began to purr. Usagi absentmindedly stroked her fur and closed her eyes. "Oh Luna, I don't know what's going on anymore. You would never believe it, but I....I think I've fallen in love Luna!! As luck would have though he's now in the hospital unconscious." Usagi then turned on her side and fell asleep. Luna watched Usagi sympathetically curling up next to her and fell asleep soon after. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Hi Dr. Muzino. Have you seen Mamoru around? I haven't seen him all day." "Huh? Oh I.. Raye. Dr. Chiba is in intensive care, he was hit by a car yesterday." Raye let out a small gasp of surprise and covered her mouth with her hand. Quickly Raye ran down the hall before Ami could say anything more. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Raye ran along the halls wildly trying to get to Mamoru's room as fast as she could. She shoved people out of the way not caring what looks they gave her. She had one destination in mind and was determined to get there. Soon, his room came into view and she cautiously walked in, took a seat beside his bed and stared at him. He looked so different from how he looked before that she almost didn't recognize him. But she knew the bruises would soon fade and the cuts would heal. He would then be his handsome self once again. "Raye, I would kindly appreciate it if you didn't run like that in the hospital and no one is to be in Mamoru's room except Usagi." Ami's commanding tone broke the silence of the room. "Dr. Muzino I'm sorry I didn't mean to run off like that I was just worried." Raye then realized she said `Usagi,' the person Mamoru mentioned earlier. "Did you just say Usagi?" "Yes I did, she's a very sweet girl and she was in here all yesterday. I believe you have work to do." Ami then turned to leave and started to walk down the hall. "Wait!" Raye caught up to Ami and began to walk beside her. "What does she look like? I mean is she Mamoru's girlfriend or something?" Ami turned to look at Raye and could tell she was jealous of Usagi by the tone of her voice. No matter how hard she tried to hide her feelings Ami could always read her eyes even if only a little. "I don't believe that's any of your business Raye, it's Mamoru's" annoyed, Ami walked off to complete her rounds. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Crescent Designs, Mina speaking" Mina held the phone with her shoulder as she arranged all the papers on her desk trying to make neat piles. Usagi had only been gone a day and already the work was too much, she never realized how much Usagi did! "Hi Mina, this is Andrew! I wanted to see how you were holding up." Mina's mood brightened in a mere second. A huge smile now gracing her face. Flopping back into her chair, she tossed the paperwork into a messy pile and rested her feet on her desk. "Hi Andrew! It's so good to hear from you! I am so tired here at work! It's only been one day and I'm going ballistic!" Mina then added a light laugh at the end. "I'm sorry to hear that. I would help you if I could but I have my own business to run too! Would you like to go out to eat tonight?" "Sure! I would love to! What time?" "Hmm, how about 8:00, I'll pick you up at your house! I'm going to visit Usagi now and make sure she's okay. Bye, love you!" "Okay. Love you too Andrew" Mina cradled the phone a bit longer then gently placed it back on the receiver. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Usagi was still asleep on her bed when she heard a knock on her door. At first she didn't want to get up but Luna kept nudging her to do so. She glanced to her right at her large digital clock. 2:00pm. `wow I slept for awhile'. The knocking continued and Usagi finally pulled herself up from her large white, fluffy bed. "I'm coming! Hold on!" She then grabbed a long, silk pink robe and wrapped it tightly around herself. Trudging to the door she cautiously opened it. "Hi Usagi! How are you holding up?" Usagi looked up at Andrew and smiled a tired smile. She opened the door wider to let him in and they sat down on her sofa. "I'm okay...I guess. I stayed up all night just cleaning. Would you like something to drink Andrew?" Usagi then stood up and headed towards the kitchen. "No, thank you though. I thought I would bring you to Mamoru's apartment and let you look around. Maybe you could pack some things he'll need when he wakes up." "Sure, that would be nice. Just let me get ready, okay?" She then headed into the bedroom and closed the door. "Make yourself at home Andrew! Watch t.v. or something." Usagi yelled though the door. Andrew stood up and walked around her apartment looking at her pictures and decorations. He stopped short when he saw a picture of two blondes posing next to each other. It was Mina and Usagi. Apparently they were at a dance because they were dressed in formal clothes. The both looked beautiful to him, but he favored Mina over Usagi. Soon the bedroom door opened and Usagi stepped out wearing another pair of jeans and a light blue tank top with a backpack over her shoulders. Her hair was pulled back into a bun at the top of her head with some loose strands that framed her face. She walked over to the kitchen counter and grabbed two sets of keys, hers and Mamoru's. "Well, ready to go?" She nodded her head and they were out the door heading to Mamoru's apartment. Surprising enough he didn't live that far from her, just a few blocks away. They stopped in front of a tall gray building that looked to have 10 floors or so. Andrew and Usagi stepped out of the car and headed inside. Andrew lead the way as Usagi looked around. The apartments looked like nothing on the outside but inside was done with much sophistication. It was decorated beautifully with primary colors all around. They stepped into the elevator and Andrew pushed the button for the top floor. The two didn't talk much the whole time but they didn't seem to mind. Once the doors opened they turned to the left and walked to the last door on the right. Usagi brought the keys out of her backpack and unlocked his door. Stepping inside she gasped at the size. The apartment was very open and spacious. She walked into his living room where a large entertainment center sat at the far wall and a long black sofa in the middle, facing the t.v. Past that was a balcony that overlooked the city and Usagi briefly wondered how many times Mamoru had gone out there just to watch the sunset, the view had to be absolutely amazing. She then looked around the rest of his apartment and noticed that it wasn't very personalized. He just had the basics, no paintings or small trinkets anywhere. Andrew sat on the couch and turned on the television allowing Usagi to look around all she wanted. She walked into his bedroom, letting her finger slide across his dresser. She looked around his closet and gathered some clothes Mamoru might need. When she decided that she had enough she went to the restroom and collected his necessities. Shoving them into her back pack she zipped it up and walked out into the living room. For the first time she noticed that he had a vase of roses sitting outside on the balcony that looked to be in full bloom. She then turned to the kitchen and rummaged around there seeing what he liked to eat, trying to memorize where everything was. After sometime Andrew suggested they leave so he could take her to see Mamoru. Usagi nodded her head and locked the door behind her. She followed Andrew to the elevator and out to the car. "Andrew, can you tell me a little bit about Mamoru? I mean since you're his friend and all" Usagi asked timidly while looking out the passenger side window. "Well....he use to live in an orphanage when he was child" at this Usagi whipped her head around to stare at Andrew. "His family died in a car crash when he was young, too young to remember. When he was old enough to, he got a job and started to save his money. Eventually he pulled enough money together to finally get an apartment and furniture. Then one day a check came in the mail for him from the bank. It was supposedly from his parent's savings from awhile back and it ended up being a very large sum which got him though college. He's a doctor at Tokyo General now and is well respected. He doesn't have a girlfriend, well when I last checked he didn't. He's a great guy and listens when anyone has a problem. He likes to grow and plant flowers, roses are his favorite. I don't know what else to say except that he's a great person" During his whole story Andrew's voice was low and emotionless. He never took his eyes off the road to look at Usagi. When he was done talking two lone tears fell from his eyes and slid down his face. She wanted to reach out to hug and comfort him but they arrived at the hospital before she could. "Well we're here Usagi. I'll drop you off near the front." "Aren't you coming?" "No, I would rather not right now. Besides, I've got to go pick up Mina soon." Usagi smiled at Andrew and gave him a hug before she got out and walked into the hospital. She signed in the receptionist's desk, got her ID and casually walked to Mamoru's room. As she was walking in, she was stopped by Ami in the hall. Turning around she smiled to greet her friend but her smile faded when she saw what look Ami was giving. It was the `I've got bad news' look and it frightened her. "Ami? What's wrong? What's happened? Is he okay?" Her voice was slowly rising as her beating heart began to pick up speed. Ami took her into his room looked solemnly at Mamoru then to Usagi. "Usagi, Mamoru fell into a deep sleep sometime last night. It's not really a coma because his sleep is not deep enough to be called one. He should wake up in a few days but I don't know when. Another thing is that when he wakes up, he ay not remember anything." Ami stood there silent for a moment and watched Usagi's reaction. Tears were building in her eyes again but she blinked them back hastily. She was looking at her sleeping Mamoru with the saddest expression on her face. "How could he not remember anything! I talked to him the other day and he said my name Ami! He can't forget." "I'm sorry Usagi. He hit his head pretty badly from the accident and there's no way of telling what the outcome will be. Wel'll just have to wait, but we'll get his memory back and he'll be his old self again." She reached out and gave Usagi a friendly supportive hug. At first she didn't respond but she slowly brought her arms up and hugged Ami back, hiding her face in Ami's jacket. A dark haired figure stood outside of the doorway and heard the whole conversation. `Maybe I can use this nice information to my benefit' she thought, turning and leaving quickly. No one knowing she was ever really there. To be continued.... What do you think? Bad? Good? Please send all comments to MPerez1329@aol.com suggestions and comments welcomed.
