Hi again:) If you've read 1-4a…Thank you! It means a lot b/c I'm new at this. **************** To Exist… Chapter 4b By April Rayne ***************** Usagi's image faded from the communicator and Minako faced the rest of the girls. "I say we go after her." Rei shook her head slowly. "We can't." "She could be in danger if he's-" "He's the real deal. Trust me, I felt his power during the fire reading." "But if he's here, and so is Mamoru-san…" Minako frowned. "He's the one in immediate danger." Rei interjected. "Eh?" "She's right. I may be reading too far into this, but two identical entities cannot exist on the same astral plane." "In anything *but* genius talk, Ami-chan." "Their souls are one and the same, although one has been around for a great deal longer. They can't be here at the same time. That Endymion belongs in the past. There's been some sort of rift in the time continuum. So if Endymion continues to stay here, and doesn't return soon, Mamoru's existence is in danger. That, in turn, will affect us." Makoto's eyes widened. "You mean that we will…" "There's a chance that we'll disappear as well." "We have no choice, because at this point, the whole earth is exposed to this threat. Endymion has to be returned as soon as possible." "We shouldn't interfere. We *can't* interfere." Rei looked down at her two crows, who stood next to her. "Eh?" "Since our souls also came from that same past, any exposure to us specifically will only make things worse. Besides, the only thing that can send him back is what brought him here. And if my suspicions are right," she looked up, "…then everything is up to Usagi." ******* Usagi's heart beat even faster when she noticed the way he was looking at her. The intensity of his gaze made her want to run, but also kept her locked with him. 'What could he possibly be thinking?' 'Serenity…' She was there, the whole time, in front of him, and he had not known…He felt incredibly foolish. But besides the fact that he was aware that she was Serenity, he was also fully aware that she was not Serenity, as crazy as it sounded. He just had to trust his instincts, no matter how confused it made him. "Gomen nasai…" interrupted his thoughts. The eye lock broke as she turned her head away. He put his hand to her face and gently turned her head so that she faced him. "You should be more careful next time, ne?" he joked with a smile. "H…Hai." She couldn't think straight. Images began to dance in her head, of roses, and Endymion. And as the image began to walk closer to her, he changed into Mamoru…and faded away into nothingness. Startled, she fell out of her trance like state and gasped. "We have to go." Endymion was alarmed by her sudden change. It seemed as if something, like a revelation, had just hit her. Questions ran through his head. 'But how…? What happened?' The main question was why she was hiding her identity from him. He decided not to pursue it, for he was sure that Usagi…Serenity had her reasons, and that everything would come in it's due time… Taking his hand, Usagi began to follow the path she had originally intended to follow, without hesitation. It wasn't easy to try to hide someone in full royal armor and regalia in one of the busiest business and commerce districts. Especially someone who held a striking resemblance to the most handsome man in all of Tokyo (AN: I'm the author, I get to say whatever I want^_^). So as a confused Usagi and a very bewildered looking man walked through the streets of the city, she was glad that there weren't many people around that day. When a couple would gawk and stare, Usagi would start *loudly* babbling about some costume party there were headed towards. They passed by the Crown Game Center and almost yelped when Motoki, taking a break from work, stepped outside when he thought he saw Mamoru walking by. He turned towards their quickly retreating backs and called out, "Usagi-chan! Mamoru-kun! Ne! Mamoru-kun! What's with the outfit?". They never ran so fast in their entire lives. Motoki stood in his spot, dumbfounded. He scratched his head, turned around and walked back into the game center with a muttered, "I could've sworn…nah…". Soon they reached Mamoru's apartment complex. She tried to ignore the expression on the face of the lady at the lobby desk. "Good afternoon, Chiba-san," she smiled. Usagi shuffled towards the elevator doors, pressed the up button five times, and was rewarded when the door opened only seconds later. "Umm…" the lady mumbled. "This-is-all-for-the-play-nice-to-meet-you-bye!" Usagi called out to her as the elevator closed. She leaned against the wall of the elevator and let out a long, exasperated sigh. "Oh boy…Now what is Mamo-chan going to say?" She meant to say that more to herself than anyone else. "You care for 'Mamo-chan' a lot, don't you?" Endymion said quietly. She blushed, looked up at him and nodded. He sent her a slight smile and they continued their ride in silence. The door opened, and Usagi, again taking Endymion's hand, ran down the hallway to his apartment. She stopped when she saw his name on the plate beside the door. Fully facing the door, she took a deep breath and knocked on it lightly. "Mamoru-san?" No answer. "Mamoru-san?" she called out again, this time rapping on the door harder. To her surprise, it creaked open a bit. Knowing that leaving his door unlocked was totally unlike him, she pushed it open a little more, and stuck her head in the room to see if he was in. It was too dark to see anything, none of the lights were on and the light from the window faded because dusk was approaching. Worried, she opened the door fully, allowing the light from the hall to flood the doorway. She almost screamed. There lay Mamoru, unmoving and sprawled on the ground. ************** End Chapter 4 Wahhh! Mamo-chan!! Disclaimer: This wouldn't be *fan*fiction if I wasn't just a fan. Sailor Moon belongs to Naoko Takeuchi-sama:) startear42@aol.com Feedback? Please? If you like this, or hate it, or whatever, pleeeeeze e-mail me! Eh...Is it still confusing? I don't even know why I'm asking I'm confusing myself a bit. OK, OK, I know, I probably ended up confusing you guys more than making this clearer^_^', but I'm trying…And as for why Usagi didn't think of just telling him…well, I'm hoping I cleared it up a little, but if it isn't working, please tell me. And I didn't want Endymion to confront her just yet…I'll see how it comes into play later. Maybe I should've just named this fic 'Confusion', ne?
